President, Harlem Cardiology
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Each year heart disease kills more Americans than cancer does. In fact, it is the number one cause of death and disability in the United States. But by the time heart problems are detected, the condition is usually quite advanced, having progressed for decades. This is why there is a need for an increased emphasis on preventing heart disease by adopting good lifestyle practices such as healthy eating, exercise and avoidance of smoking.
Studies of people with heart disease have shown that lowering high blood cholesterol and high blood pressure can reduce the risk of dying of heart disease and of having a nonfatal heart attack. Reducing these factors may also decrease the risk for need of heart bypass surgery or angioplasty. And rather than suffering a surprising and often deadly heart attack, it is now possible for an individual to catch and treat problems before it’s too late.
You can take comfort in knowing that Harlem Cardiology provides comprehensive diagnostic services, treatment for, and management of a wide range of cardiac and vascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), peripheral vascular disease, stroke, diabetes, vascular and diabetic foot problems, and more.
